4) Lack of chances in the 4-3-3 formation

Negative:

One of the major criticisms of the new formation is the lack of opportunities being created, best illustrated by Seattle having the second-fewest goals in MLS. Detractors will also point to the fourth-fewest shots on goal as further evidence of the failings of the 4-3-3 setup and a need to return to a 4-4-2.

Positive:

This is not new territory for the Sounders, who were 13th in shots on goal last season and dead last for overall shots, but still scored enough to make the playoffs. A combination of solid defense, along with continuing to get used to the 4-3-3 formation (which there were signs of prior to the 3-1 loss in Colorado) and the team will be just fine.
