Final 2016 Seahawks Mock NFL Draft
By Justin Floor
ROUND 3, PICK# 90- CONNOR McGOVERN, C/G, MISSOURI
If the last pick surprised you, this one shouldn’t. McGovern ranks highly on many athletics metrics and is the pick one year after the Seahawks missed out on his teammate, Mitch Morse, when Kansas City surprisingly nabbed him in the middle of round 2 in last year’s NFL Draft. Mostly a guard in college, McGovern makes a solid center prospect to take over for Patrick Lewis in 2017, if not sooner, with immense brute strength to prevent push up the middle.
Also considered: Charles Tapper, Jeremy Cash, Jonathan Williams
"The injured Jaylon Smith provides plenty of upside beyond 2016."
ROUND 3, PICK# 97- JAYLON SMITH, OLB, NOTRE DAME
Smith is an elite prospect who would have likely been a top-10 selection in this year’s NFL Draft if not for a devastatingly unfortunate knee injury that will likely cost him the 2016 football season. While it is risky to punt a pick in terms of 2016 production and hope that Smith is full go in 2017, a Jaylon Smith at 100% is something every fan should want on their favorite team. The reward here is worth the risk.
Also considered: Charone Peak, Jonathan Williams, Caleb Benenoch
ROUND 4, PICK# 124- KEITH MARSHALL, RB, GEORGIA
Marshall has endured many injuries at the University of Georgia that sapped what was once a very promising college career. His perseverance, however, has allowed him to rebound from past tribulations and he most recently blazed a 4.31 40-yard dash in pre-draft workouts. He gives the Seahawks a home run hitting compliment behind the mauling Thomas Rawls and Christine Michael. A lighter workload as a complimentary back will benefit Marshall as he continues to work back to 100% health.
Also considered: Jatavis Brown, KJ Dillon, Devon Cajuste
