3) Make the homefield count

Since these two sides starting playing each other in 2010, homefield has often proved to be a deciding factor. The Sounders have never won in Philadelphia, losing two and tying three games at PPL Park.

Fortunately for Seattle, this encounter will take place at CenturyLink Field, where the home side has won three of four previous meetings. It will be up to Schmid’s men to take advantage of the best crowd atmosphere in MLS.

Although it has no bearing on the outcome, it is also worth noting captain Brad Evans and Osvaldo Alonso will both be making their 200th MLS regular season appearance on Saturday. Evans and Alonso have been with the Sounders since their inaugural season in 2009 and will aim to continue their joint success with a win against Jim Curtin’s team.
