9) Double Bowl delight
This past year was a unique one in college football, at least from a local perspective. Despite the long history of the Huskies and Cougars, this represented the first time both teams won a bowl game in the same season.
Admittedly, the Heart of Dallas Bowl doesn’t exactly have as much prestige as the Sun Bowl. However, it was still good to see both schools get some recognition on the national stage:
Moving forward, the Huskies and Cougars appear to be headed in the right direction, thanks in large part to their respective head coaches. Chris Petersen has been a breath of fresh air, while Mike Leach has just signed a contract extension through the 2020 season.
