We all knew Tyler Lockett was going to be the star of the show on Sunday. His explosiveness was going to be on display – it seemed like a guarantee, though truly it would have been all well and fine if he’d had a quiet game. Yeah, he didn’t have a quiet game.
Lockett got his first career punt return opportunity in the first quarter. It was a fairly short punt, but that doesn’t mean he had an easy time returning it for a touchdown. Well, I mean, it probably wasn’t easy, but he didn’t make it look particularly difficult.
As a rookie skills player, it’d be easy to rightfully write off Lockett as a guy who still has a lot of work to do before he can put it all together and be an actual football force and not just a kid with lots of natural ability. Lots of players come into the league and need time to refine their gifts. Tyler Lockett is not one of those players. He’s something else. Something better.
