Washington Huskies Football End Of Season Awards Best Offensive Player: Jaydon Mickens

This one was almost a toss-up between Mickens and Dwayne Washington, but I’m giving Mickens the edge. He lead the “Legion of Zoom” with 621 yards and four TD’s (both team highs), and also ran for 103 yards and two scores on 17 carries.

In total yards, Washington actually has the slight edge, but the leadership that Mickens brings was impressive to watch this year. Offensively, not a lot went right for the Dawgs. They looked flat. But Mickens always seemed to be the guy to bring energy either with a big play, or with his attitude after someone else made a big play, or by getting in guys faces and getting them pumped up, he was a spark-plug all year for a Husky offense that didn’t really have any one else who could be.

Honorable Mention: Dwayne Washington

Washington had team highs with 781 total yards and nine TD’s. He also averaged an impressive 5.3 yards per carry.

Honorable Mention: John Ross

Had Ross stayed at wide receiver the whole year, he might have been the best offensive player. He had 371 receiving yards on 17 catches and four TD’s. He also ran for 54 yards and a TD on six carries and returned two kicks for scores. Overall, his touchdowns this season were of 100, 100, 91, 75, 55, 54 and 20 yards.
