B.J. Daniels Added To Seahawks’ Active Roster To Begin Championship Week

The Seattle Seahawks have promoted B.J. Daniels from the practice squad to the active roster in wake of Paul Richardson‘s unfortunate ACL tear.

“[Daniels] has been a guy that’s been impressive to us all year long,” Carroll said. “It’s a classic opportunity to reward a guy who has been working his butt off.”

Daniels played well in the preseason – far better than Terrelle Pryor, who got most of the attention. He threw for 105 yards on 7-11 passing with one TD and zero INT’s, while also running for 43 yards on eight carries.

His size and athleticism makes him a possible candidate as a utility offensive or special teams player. Another possibility is trick plays.

“He’s going to help us in a number of spots. Of course he’s a third quarterback, but we’ll see this week how he works to fit in on special teams. He’s a backup returner for us, he can play running back and wide receiver as well,” Carroll said on Monday. “He’s been doing that all year, so he’s a very versatile guy for us to bring to life right now.”

Pete Carroll always seems to bring something new to the table come playoff time, and he already brought out the new field goal blocking strategy.

Who knows what the ‘Hawks will do with Daniels, if anything at all. Maybe it’s just Pete giving Green Bay something to waste their game-planning time on.  But it’s fun to think about!
