Seattle Seahawks: Landon Cohen Signing Boosts Defensive Line Depth
The Seattle Seahawks started the most important week of their season by signing Landon Cohen on Monday to fill out the 53-man roster. The final spot on the team had been open since Travian Robertson was waived on December 26th.
What is most telling about the addition is that Cohen plays defensive tackle, the same position as Jordan Hill. The status of Hill for the playoff game against the Carolina Panthers is up in the air as he attempts to recover from a sprained knee.

If Hill is unable to play against the Panthers, it would be a big loss for the Seahawks. The 23-year old has been a key reserve this season with 5.5 sacks, including 3.5 in the final three weeks of the regular season (as well as an interception).
If Hill is unable to go, Cohen will step in and attempt to fill the void. For his career, the 28-year old has played in 40 games (including eight starts) and has 46 total tackles.
This is Cohen’s second stint with the Seahawks, after previously being claimed off waivers in 2011. He was waived by the team after just seven days in Seattle.
Since being selected in the seventh round of the 2008 draft, Cohen has been somewhat of a journeyman. He has spent time with several teams, including the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears.
Cohen previously attended Ohio University, where he played four years. During his college career, the Spartanburg, South Carolina native was twice named to the All-Mid-American Conference second team.
