Seattle Mariners News: Five Non-Tendered Players Who Could Help The M’s
Everth Cabrera
Cabrera just turned 28, but finds himself on the free agent market after the San Diego Padres declined to tender him a contract. He’s got a hamstring issue that limited him last year, and spent the year before that getting all wrapped up in Biogenesis. He’s also drawn ire from his previous organization for a DUI arrest. In short, his exit from San Diego was an unceremonious fall from grace.
But while Cabrera has shown that he probably isn’t the cornerstone building block he was once billed as, he’s still a good fit for a team that needs depth up the middle. The Mariners can keep one of Brad Miller and Chris Taylor, trade the other for something exciting, and sign Cabrera as the backup middle infielder. Sure beats Willie Bloomquist‘s glove at short.
