Seattle Mariners Offseason Prediction – If The M’s Had The Dodgers Budget

Seattle Mariners Offseason Prediction: Andrew Miller (4 years, $30 million)

The Mariners relief pitching was the best in baseball in 2014 with a 2.59 ERA. But the only left handed relievers currently on the roster areCharlie Furbush(3.61) andLucas Luetge(5.00), who rank last and second-to-last on the team in ERA out of the bullpen.

Miller’s ERA has gone down every year since 2010, culminating with a ridiculous 2014 season: 2.02 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 14.9 K/9. OnlyAroldis Chapmanhad a better strikeout-per-nine-innings ratio.

Bringing backJoe Beimelwould also be beneficial to the club. Although they were fantastic as a whole, last year’s ratio of 7 right-handed relievers to only 3 lefties wasn’t ideal. Also, the emergence ofCarson Smith, who went 8.1 IP with zero runs allowed and only two hits, makes one of the other righties expendable.

Next up: It’s going to sound weird, but hear me out!
