2015 Seattle Mariners: Five Reasons for Optimism

The 2014 Seattle Mariners won 16 more games than the 2013 team and came within one game of making the playoffs. While the finish was disappointing, the improvement is noteworthy and has led many fans to feel like the 2015 season could be particularly exciting.
Of course, nothing is guaranteed in baseball, or in any sports from season to season. The Mariners have holes, and those might not be filled adequately in the offseason. Players that put together excellent performances in 2014 could regress. There is a long gap between now and next March.
Still, there is reason for optimism and here are five reasons to believe that 2015 could be a special year.
