Did Seattle play flawlessly? Unfortunately no. There were some minor issues; even in a lopsided game like this, I can always find something. I was disappointed we gave up a long penalty to put Green Bay into sniffing distance of the end zone. It was executed perfectly by the Packers to get a mismatch against Bobby Wagner and in essence lob the ball into the direction of the receiver.
With Wagner not typically covering man to man on receivers he got beat and the yellow hanky landed at his feet. I can forgive that one.
Seattle only converted on 4-11 third down conversions, not really a great percentage considering how effective their offense was otherwise. This needs to get better.
There are definitely some issues at punt returner that need to be ironed out. The experiment of putting Thomas back to field punts should be stopped in haste. I am not a fan of putting your all-world safety in punt return positions where the sole goal of the gunners are to demolish the other person. My opinion is that he is too valuable to the overall defense and one cheap shot ends his season.
Let Bryan Walters handle this duty, less explosive but also more expendable…sorry to be honest Mr. Walters.
