Roster awareness

The casual fan of the Seattle Mariners probably knows the name Felix Hernandez. This year, they might also know the name Robinson Cano.

What about the rest of the roster?

The true fan has a general idea of who is on the roster in the current year. This doesn’t mean that they have to monitor every team transaction, know Erasmo Ramirez‘s ERA (4.06, in case you were wondering) or know how many of Seattle’s 130 games Corey Hart has actually played in (58, by the way).

In general, the point is that the true can name most of the starting lineup and know the major stories from the current season. To know this, you have to follow the news, read the occasional box score and maybe watch a few games. Fans do that.

And no, Ichiro does not play for the Mariners anymore. Sorry.
