Practices
The Seahawks are the frat boys of the NFL. No, no, not in a bad way. But in approach, camaraderie and a spirit of fun-they seem to have turned the NFL on it’s ear. They practice on the shores of Lake Washington, with music blaring (spun by a live DJ) and coaches laughing. Who wouldn’t want to go to work here?
Coach Carroll has a no-nonsense approach to getting the job done, but it can still be fun, right? In fact, it’s the players that make sure the practices are meaningful, because everybody is battling for a position…as evidenced by ‘Competition Wednesday.’ Nobody is safe.
Even with all of the vim and vigor on the field the team still has time to entertain actors (Will Ferrell), musicians (Snoop Dogg/Snoop Lion/Snoopzilla and Macklemore) and the US Marine Corps (performing a helocast). Pretty cool if you ask me.
I can’t say if this approach would work for every NFL team but what I do know is that for this team, at this moment, it works…and it works really well. Go Hawks!
