The situation will feel eerily similar, and to Seahawks fans everywhere, they’ll be hoping for a similar result. It was December 23rd, 2012, and while the country was covered in a blanket of frost, there was nothing cold about the Seahawks offense on this Sunday night. In a national TV setting, (Sunday Night Football) Russell Wilson threw for 4 touchdowns leading his team to a 42-13 drubbing of the rival San Francisco 49ers.
After surviving a mild scare in Week 1 against Carolina, the Seahawks look to re-establish their dominance when the 49ers come in, led by a man taking the NFL by storm, in Colin Kaepernick. In the last meeting between the two, the stout Hawk defense held his completion percentage just barely over 50%. With even less targets than he possessed last season with both Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham starting the season on the PUP list, room for improvement from the Seattle defense isn’t an unreasonable thought.
Marshawn Lynch got his season off to a slow start last week against Carolina but the Panthers are sure to boast one of the top linebacking cores in the NFL this upcoming year. While the Niners defense is certainly no easy task, “Beast Mode” has to be significantly better this Sunday night in order for the Seahawks to pull out the victory.
Prediction:
49ers – 17
Seahawks – 28
