Seahawks Fantasy Focus — Doug Baldwin

Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin will have his sights set on a breakout week in his week 2 campaign against the San Francisco 49ers’. Baldwin, who had an injury struck 2012 season, almost had 100 yards receiving Week 1 against the Panthers, failing to miss the mark by just nine yards. The Niners permitted 322 passing yards in Week 1 against the Packers, as well as three profound passes for gains of 30-plus yards.

Baldwin could have some chances to expand the field, contingent on the coverage. The talented wide-out was targeted 8 times, and picked up 7 catches last week and is looking more and more like Russell Wilson’s go to guy.

There are going to be other fantasy “experts”, suggesting that Baldwin is not a good play this week, that the Niners defense is too stout— DON’T listen! First of all the last time these two teams faced each other the 49er defense could not stop the Seahawks, in particular Baldwin.

The second year wide receiver showed ability to get open against the 49er defense, and scored 2 touchdowns on 6 receptions.

The undrafted star out of Stanford presented 1154 yards in his first two NFL seasons, but he could be en route to an outstanding season with a team-high eight targets on Sunday.  Last week’s performance was encouraging news for his fantasy forecasts as those statistics were superior than in any game last season.

I project 16 points for the overlooked diamond in the rough, who by the way is available in 99% of fantasy leagues.
