The first week of the actual NFL season is finally here. The Seahawks start their quest to winning the Super Bowl away from CenturyLink, in Carolina against the Cam Newton led Panthers.

The Seahawks and Panthers met last season, also in Carolina. The Seahawks squeaked by 16-12 and brought their 2012 record to 3-2 with the win. Cam Newton was limited to 141 yards passing, 42 yards rushing and no touchdowns. The Seahawks defense should continue to contain Newton even with his speed and running ability because if there’s one thing the Seahawks have on defense, it’s speed.

Russell Wilson threw for 221 yards and one touchdown in last season’s matchup, but you have to remember it was a week 5 game. Over the course of the second half of the 2012 NFL season, Wilson played like one of, if not the best QB’s in the NFL.

Beast Mode, Marshawn Lynch was held without a rushing score despite 85 yards on the ground. Expect the Seahawks to come out much faster at the start of this game and put up more than 16 points against a Carolina team that has defensive rookie of the year, Luke Kuechly.

Prediction:

Seahawks 24

Panthers 10
