Of the veteran free agent running backs available, Eddie Lacy was arguably the best choice for the Seattle Seahawks. We tell you three reasons why.

The Seattle Seahawks‘ backfield got a little bit more crowded on Tuesday, after signing Eddie Lacy. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the one-year deal is worth $5.55 million, with $3 million being fully guaranteed.

Certainly, Lacy makes for an intriguing addition. Originally rated as a four-star recruit coming out of high school, he is the type of physical back who would seem to fit perfectly into the Seahawks’ mindset.

The two-time SEC champion made an immediate impact in the NFL, after being selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2013 draft. He rushed for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns, going on to be named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Lacy followed this up with a second-straight 1,000-yard campaign in his sophomore season and has amassed over 4,400 total yards during his first four years in the NFL. Some critics may question the wisdom behind signing him, but we now offer three reasons why the Seahawks made the right move.
