In the latest Mock Draft from Bleacher Report, featured columnist Kristopher Knox matched Indiana offensive guard Dan Feeney with the Seahawks.

Kristopher Knox’s Mock Draft on Bleacher Report had Indiana offensive guard Dan Feeney going to the Seahawks with the 26th pick. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve detailed two Mock Drafts from other sources. Todd McShay at ESPN predicted the Seahawks will take Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson about a week ago, while Daniel Jeremiah at NFL.com predicted Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey donning the Seahawks green and blue.

Knox penciled in Dan Feeney going to the Seahawks in his Mock Draft, and he seems like the best fit of the three predicted to be drafted by Seattle in April. According to Knox’s board, Feeney is the third-best offensive lineman, behind Wisconsin offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk and versatile lineman Forrest Lamp, out of Western Kentucky.

I think I agree with many (if not all) Seahawks fans when I say I hope Ramczyk somehow falls to Seattle at pick 26. Some may even go so far as to wish they would trade up to take the dominating tackle. The more I pour over Mock Draft after Mock Draft, the more I see Ramczyk being the first offensive lineman off the board.

But Ramczyk is unlikely to fall to the Seahawks. Instead, they could draft Feeney, a tough guy who loves to bang defensive players around and yet heady enough to be a zone-blocking specialist with a penchant for reading blitzes before they happen, according to his NFL.com scouting profile:

"“Tough guy with a banger mentality. Decent arm length for the position. Above-average pass protector on interior. Feet are light enough to slide quickly in either direction to protect the edge in pass-pro. Very aware of twists and blitzes.” –Lance Zierlein"

Feeney was adept at zone-blocking schemes that helped spring now-NFL running backs Jordan Howard and Tevin Coleman for big gains at Indiana.

Where could he fit with the offensive line-needy Seahawks? Feeney has seen action at tackle and guard, a trait that fits with Tom Cable’s throw anything at the wall and see if it sticks approach. More importantly, Feeney would be a welcome infusion of talent on a line that was primarily a mashup of former basketball players and cast-offs (and the so-far disappointing Germain Ifedi, a 2016 first-round pick). Cable needs talented bodies and willing minds to mold into a cohesive unit.

Then again, the Seahawks could probably pick up a zone-blocking specialist in later rounds. Much will likely depend on Feeney’s Combine results. The NFL Combine starts next Tuesday, February 28th. Pete Carroll and John Schneider probably have their own scouting report on Feeney already. It remains to be seen if they view him as anything more than a zone blocker.

Another common theme I’ve seen in this Mock Draft and others is that the Draft appears to be bereft of top-end offensive lineman. Will the Seahawks reach in the first round to try to get their guy? Will they trade up for Ramcyzk or Lamp? Or will they trade out of the first round and accumulate more picks for later?
