FanSided decided to rank entertainment, sports, celebrity, and brand fan bases for Fandom 250. The Seahawks are the 77th best fan base in their Fandom universe–low, but not criminally low.

The Seahawks were ranked 77th in Fansided’s Fandom 250, behind such popular fandoms as Transformers, Frank Ocean, and American Horror Story. While I think they should rank ahead of Transformers and The Clintons (#64), their ranking among NFL franchises is a solid seventh, behind the Dallas Cowboys (#5), the Green Bay Packers (#21), the Pittsburgh Steelers (#23), the New England Patriots (#30), the Oakland Raiders (#53), and the Denver Broncos (#66).

Interestingly enough, the San Francisco 49ers didn’t even make the list despite their long and storied history. I suppose going 1-11 so far this year will do that to a fan base. I didn’t see the Rams or the Cardinals on the list, either, so the Seahawks are the only representative on the Fandom 250 list of the NFC West–a proud honor.

Fandom 250 cites the Kingdome and some of the loudest fans in the world* as valid reasons for ranking inside the top 100 fan bases on Earth. We’re also the first fan base in the professional US sports to retire a number dedicated to the fans. What a privilege it is to watch the 12th Man Flag being raised before every game.

Even through the lean years of the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s, this fan base has cheered loud and proud for their Seahawks. Finally, we were rewarded for our devotion (I’ve been a fan since 2000 or so, for the record) with Pete Carroll. While Mike Holmgren first put Seattle on the NFL map with a Super Bowl appearance following the 2005 season, it was Carroll who put the Lombardi Trophy in our hands. Carroll and general manager John Schneider have created a tight-knit locker room that’s more like a family than a team. Outspoken and incredibly talented players like Richard Sherman further add to the Seahawks’ rising legend around the league.

So, while I, in my incredibly biased opinion, think that the Seahawks’ fan base is more passionate than say, Superman and Supergirl or Snapchat, landing in the top ten of NFL franchises for the Fandom 250 list isn’t too shabby. Okay, now I’m bracing myself for Snapchat fans’ comments.

Are we ranked high enough or not nearly high enough? How can one be a passionate Snapchat fan? I have, use, and enjoy Snapchat, but I don’t love the app more than Game of Thrones (#4) or the Seattle Supersonics (#152). And how in the world is Starbucks ranked just ahead of the Sonics?! Let me know in the comment section below.
