As the Seattle Sounders prepare to face Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink Field, we consider three factors which will help decide the outcome.

So here we go Seattle Sounders fans – it all comes down to Sunday. In many respects, it fits the narrative of what has been an unpredictable, up-and-down campaign, that the Sounders’ fate should be decided in the final game of the season.

I spoke to interim head coach Brian Schmetzer after training on Saturday, and asked him what the mood of the team was: “The issue that we’ve had since day one when I took over, is that every game was an important match, because we were so far below in the table,

“(As such) they are conditioned and used to this kind of pressure. Training’s been good all week, we believe in the process and what we do in training (and) they’re ready to go.”

Certainly, it makes sense that the team is as prepared as you can expect them to be, given everything they’ve been through since Sigi Schmid left. Let’s look at three factors, which will likely determine the final result.
