The Seahawks have had precious few successful quarterbacks in their history. Let’s take remember those who have helped the Seahawks win before the Age of Russ.

The Seahawks have had many quarterbacks in their history. Most of them were mediocre or worse, but over the years, a few have truly shined in the green and blue. NFL coaches and general managers are constantly looking for The One: that one quarterback who can lead the team to the Promised Land. The One is most commonly known in the NFL as a “franchise quarterback,” a talented player at the game’s most important position who automatically makes the team better no matter who else is on the field with him.

NFL coaches and general managers will sell their first-born son for a franchise quarterback. We saw former Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and company mortgage their team’s future to take Jared Goff with the first pick of the 2016 NFL Draft on the chance that he’ll be a franchise quarterback. History tells us that there is no reliable way to find The One. Sometimes these guys are taken early in the first round, sometimes in the third round, sometimes they wander into training camp fresh off the bus.

In the early years, the Seahawks were mostly mediocre or worse because their various leaders couldn’t find their franchise quarterback. But occasionally, they found successful passers who more or less helped the team remain competitive.

Let’s open the history books and take a look at some of the best Seahawks quarterbacks over the years and count down the best five.
