Seahawks training camp doesn’t start until July 30th, yet there’s plenty of things to think about as the NFL offseason wears on. Here are a few news items to mull over.

More from Seattle Seahawks

First, the bad news. Newly returned Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner is reportedly under investigation for assault on Browner’s girlfriend’s father in Pomona, California. The police haven’t interviewed Browner or released a warrant for his arrest yet.

Excellent NFL writer Bill Barnwell wrote an article on the historical context of the Seahawks-Cardinals rivalry and how often teams of their talent levels have to play each other twice a year in the same division in NFL history. With the 49ers reloading with a new coach yet again and the Rams doing mediocre Rams things, the Cards figure to be the Seahawks’ largest obstacle to return to the Super Bowl in 2016. As we all learned (again) last season, home field advantage matters in the playoffs. Playing three road games to get to the Super Bowl is a feat even the best team in the NFL by DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) last season (the Seahawks) would be hard-pressed to do. Are the Seahawks better or worse-off for playing the Cardinals twice a year?

As you may have heard, Russell Wilson and fiancee Ciara got married at a castle in Liverpool today. Congratulations to both, but watch out for Future lurking with auto-tuned gunshots, Russ. If it comes to it, I’ll protect you. I can take Future, right?*

Read Ricardo Lockette‘s experience after he got his neck broken during a game last season in his own words on the Seahawks’ website. It’s easy for writers like me to talk about football, but the people who actually put the pads on and play in the NFL put their lives on the line. Lockette’s article will hopefully remind you of that. And it will remind you how good of a teammate Marshawn Lynch was.
