Before the Mariners take the field tonight against the Los Angeles Angels, let’s take a look at some Mariners links around the Internet.

The Mariners face the Los Angeles Angels tonight at 7:05 pm at Angel Stadium. According to the Mariners team site, scheduled starter Felix Hernandez will miss the game (and miss his chance at topping Randy Johnson‘s all-time franchise strikeout record) due to the flu. Hisashi Iwakuma will take his place on the mound tonight.

The friendly folks over at Seatown Mariners.com are ranking all the top Mariners prospects. Here is number nine on their list (no spoilers). Just in case you need some hope for the future with your Mariners game viewing tonight.

More from Seattle Mariners

Nick Lee of our fellow FanSided Mariners site Sodo Mojo took a look at the Mariners bullpen through 15 games and their ability to get hitters out so far in this young season and why the cast of castoffs has been effective so far. Hopefully Lee doesn’t jinx them with his article (knock on wood).

Those of you who, like me, are concerned with Hernandez’s 13 walks in 18 innings so far this year can take heart in the fact that he is searching for answers from pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre, according to the Seattle Times’ Ryan Divish. Follow this man on Twitter if you haven’t already. According to Divish, Hernandez has been working to solve his command issues ever since he walked five batters on Opening Day in Arlington. Hopefully the flu won’t throw his control back into flux.

For a blast from the past and an excellent read, check out David Skiba’s article about former Mariners great Bret Boone and his struggles with alcoholism. Skiba goes over Boone’s recent book and why he left the game so suddenly when he was still in the prime of his career. I promise it’s not a complete downer.
