It has been revealed by Seahawks.com that Kam Chancellor played through an MCL tear and deep bone bruise in the Super Bowl from an injury suffered in practice.

Chancellor’s thick knee brace could easily be seen on camera during the game.

“They told me I wasn’t going to be able to play,” Chancellor said in the team release. “They told me torn MCL and bone bruise. I was mad. I was frustrated. But at the end of the day, I was able to play. My teammates came to me. They prayed with me. That’s when it hit me. Why am I mad? I’ve got to be grateful for how I’m feeling right now. There are some people out there worse than me.”

Kam never had a doubt he would be OK to play in Super Bowl XLIX, thanks to his unflinching faith in God.

“To tell you the truth, I do it from my faith,” he said in the article. “My faith is strong and testaments like this, moments like this, make my faith stronger. I believed He was going to heal me up to play in the game, to finish the game. And that’s what happened. So my faith just becomes stronger. And then I do it for my teammates.”

Chancellor has battled various injuries throughout the 2014-15 season, but still managed to be named a second-team All-Pro, although if you asked me, he should have been on the first team.

Earl Thomas played with a dislocated shoulder, from an inury suffered in the NFC Championship game. Richard Sherman also suffered an elbow injury in the 28-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers, after getting his arm sandwiched in between James Starks and Kam Chancellor.

Many different stories surfaced on the nature of Sherman’s injury, each reporting a different diagnosis. All we know for sure, is that it was damaged on a hit from Kam Chancellor. That should tell you all you need to know.

Pete Carroll had this to say of his secondary.

“It was an extraordinary effort from guys who played through unbelievable issues,” Carroll said in the article. “That was a heroic thing that those guys did to play. They wanted to play for their teammates and they did exactly that, and they did it in great fashion.”
