Seahawks News: ‘Hawks Sign 11 Players To Begin Off-Season

facebooktwitterreddit

I’m in need of some positive Seahawks news. This is more like neutral news, but I’ll take what I can get.

The Seattle Seahawks have signed 11 players to contracts for 2015. These are primarily practice squad players.

The new signees are:

You might recognize Jimmy Staten and RaShaun Allen. Both have spent time on the Seahawks’ active roster over the course of the season before returning to the practice squad. Staten was a fifth round draft choice of Pete Carroll and John Schneider in 2014.

Demetrius Bronson may also ring a bell. The Kentwood native his first two years at the University of Washington before transferring and becoming a star at Eastern Washington University. Bronson played well in the preseason, but has a long way to go to be one of the top three backs on the team.

These “future” contracts are basically the equivalent to a camp invite in baseball. The deals will be officially activated once team rosters expand to 90 players later in the off-season.

According to the official team release, past players signed to future contracts include Brandon Browner, Paul McQuistan, Derrick Coleman and Cooper Helfet.
