Felix Hernandez Now In Line To Start One-Game Playoff

Erasmo Ramirez was a disaster this afternoon, giving up 10 runs in 3+ innings. There are however positives from his promotion.

Felix Hernandez will get an extra two days off after being moved to Friday’s game against the Washington Nationals. But that isn’t the only purpose it serves.

Assuming he isn’t moved again, and the Seattle Mariners stay with a five-man rotation, The King is now scheduled to start the one-game playoff should the M’s make it. The current rotation order has James Paxton pitching the final game of the regular season and Hisashi Iwakuma would be in line to start Game 1 of the ALDS.

As for the teams the M’s could play in that not-quite-postseason matchup, CJ Wilson (10-8, 4.45 ERA) is in line to go for the Los Angeles Angels while Sonny Gray (13-7,  3.00) would be the starter for the Oakland A’s.
