Backup Corners

I have no concerns with Richard Sherman or Byron Maxwell shadowing opponent’s receivers. Yes, they will get beat from time to time but it won’t be the rule.

I am suspect on Jeremy Lane. He played a heavy role in our defense last year and this year looks no different. But it seems, in most cases, he is one step out of position or getting beat over the top. I have noticed this being the case in all three games this post-season. However, it was nice to see him get an interception during the game against the Bears.

Granted, it is hard to get a large enough sample set to get a true gauge of Mr. Lane, so this may not be indicative of his true contribution. Tharold Simon has shown us glimpses of why coaches are so high on him.But I have some concern with his on-field character. He got a personal foul penalty and ejection in the Broncos game and then this week got into a skirmish with Earl Thomas.

Earl Thomas? Seriously? Mr. Simon, you may want to understand your place, it is not trying to fight an all-pro safety or penalizing the team for an outburst of emotion.
