Oops.

Upon further review, Jared Allen has reportedly NOT signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Someone passed along some information that was just a bit short of correct.

It would be easy to blame the major media outlet that originally reported the story and lament the person that made the error. But, there are plenty of sites that gladly jumped on the speculation train, including Emerald City Swagger.

So, mea culpa.

Something happened during the negotations. Everything appeared to be on track but apparently Allen left town without signing a contract.

The details are not clear at this point, but one has to assume that the story will continue to unfold in the next few days. Perhaps this was the plan all along. Allen obviously has interest in Seattle or he wouldn’t have made a second visit. Maybe he just wanted to confirm a few things and then think about it.

Now we wait. Allen stated that he will make a decision this weekend, so we won’t have to wait particularly long.

Maybe we should wait for Jared Allen to make the announcement this time.
