The Seattle Seahawks just won the Super Bowl in dramatic fashion. Next year, they could be even better. Too early for that kind of prediction?

At this point, why not? Why not suggest that this team is just getting started?

After all, the Seahawks are young and they have a swagger that is at an all-time high. This team could actually get better in 2014.

Obviously this is the type of prediction that has to include some caveats. Injuries could occur. The Seahawks might lose some close games. In addition, the San Francisco 49ers are not going away. If the 49ers went to the Super Bowl next year, it wouldn’t be a total shock.

There is some business to address. Specifically, there could be teams out there that are willing to overpay for players like Michael Bennett and Golden Tate. If guys like Zach Miller and Sidney Rice become cap casualities, they will need to be replaced. Still, this team is deep and has the talent to adjust.

Realistically, there could be players that struggle, and key stars could be lost in the violent NFL. However, think about the possibilities.

A stingy defense that is still led by Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas. A confident Russell Wilson that will be ready to chase another ring. A full season of Percy Harvin…hopefully. Another year of Marshawn Lynch pounding the ball between the tackles.

So many possibilities.

This will be an interesting test of the Seattle philosophy. Will the last couple of drafts reveal more hidden depth? Will Pete Carroll and John Schneider find more gems in the 2014 class?

Maintaining successful teams is very difficult in the NFL. Not everyone can get paid lucrative contracts, and some drafts do not unfold as hoped.

2014 could be another fun year for the fans at CenturyLink Field. It might even be more successful than this fantastic season.
