Last night at CenturyLink, the Seattle Sounders put together a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids to earn an appearance in their fifth straight Western Conference Semifinals.

The victory over the Rapids means the Sounders will now be playing a home-and-home series with their biggest rival in the MLS, the Portland Timbers. The first match in the series will be in CenturyLink this Saturday. The series will then be decided on November 7th in Portland.

Brad Evans and Eddie Johnson both provided the scoring with Clint Dempsey assisting on the final goal in the 93rd minute, sealing the win for the home team.

Oddly enough, the Sounders were playing with only ten men at the time of the seconds core with goalkeeper Michael Gspurning drawing a red card in the games 85th minute.

September 13th was the last time that the Sounders had managed to win, let alone multiple goals in a match as well. The assist by Dempsey was his first as a Sounder.

Saturday will see the Sounders take on the Timbers without Gspurning, who will sit out the first leg of the series due to the red card.
